Spurs are in late talks with Swansea City to sign centre-back Joe Rodon in a deal worth £18m.

The player has been tracked by West Ham for some time and has been on their radar as one for the future.

Rodon impressed in the Championship last season, helping them reach the play-offs. The Welsh club does not want to sell one of its star players, but if a big enough offer came in, it would be hard to stand in the way.

West Ham are reported to have contacted the player and his representatives last month but decided they needed to reserve their limited transfer funds to players who can hit the ground running in the Premier League.

EXWHUemployee has admitted that he had sent the Swans defender name to David Sullivan and later read out his reply about the player on his West Ham Way podcast last month.

Ex reported: Joe Rodon at Swansea. We had some enquires. I’m led to believe that we could get him for about £12-15m. Swansea are not in a good position financially and need to sell players.  I sent that knowledge on to David Sullivan. And the response that I got from that was: ‘We know the player well, in a year he could be very good’.”
