Operators London Stadium 185 gave the self styled Crystal Palace ‘Ultras’ prior permission to bring in a drum despite prohibiting all musical instruments which could cause a nuisance.

Under the security and safety section of the stadium’s official website it says: “Unlicensed musical instruments: trumpets, drums and other devices capable of causing a disturbance or nuisance”

The drum could be heard from the away end throughout the game with many West Ham supporters asking how they could have smuggled it in when bottle tops and umbrellas are banned from entry.

There was a disturbance in the away end in the London Stadium in the first half and it was assumed that the response team was sent in to stop the drumming but the operators insist the incident was unrelated as the drum presence was authorised.

LS185 told ClaretandHugh “Permission (for the drum) was granted by prior arrangement and it wasn’t confiscated. The response team deployment was unrelated”
