South American striker Taty Castellanos could become a Hammer if a Brazilian journalist is to be believed.

Earlier this week it was reported by the Daily Mirror that West Ham will meet the $16 million (£12.7m)  asking price for New York City FC MLS striker Taty Castellanos.

The 23-year-old Argentine won the Golden Boot last season and continues to be one of the best strikers in MLS this year with seven goals in ten league games, and 11 goals in 13 competitive matches.

West Ham was first linked to Castellanos during the January transfer window, and fresh reports resurfaced last week detailing the Hammer’s renewed interest in Castellanos.

Brazilian journalist Paco Belmonte yesterday claimed on social media that West Ham has reached an agreement and Castellanos will become a Hammer on 1st July.

There is no doubt that West Ham’s head of recruitment will have known and scouted Castellanos while at Manchester City and reports suggest the Hammers have scouted him again since.

The player certainly matches what David Moyes is looking for, a young hungry striker happy to play understudy to Michail Antonio and not a marque striker.

We will attempt to find out whether this report has any legs, but in the meantime here is his video reel below.
