Sturridge? West Ham halt the madness

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge celebrates scoring to tie the match 1-1

Ridiculous rumours that Daniel Sturridge is a transfer window target for West Ham are total and complete nonsense.

The ‘story’ first emerged in the Brentwood Gazette earlier this month claiming he could be on his way to the Irons next summer.

But various media outlets have recycled it with a new spin today claiming he is on the radar for a late Deadline Day bid.

But ClaretandHugh can reveal (if it needs revealing at all) the club has no interest whatsoever in returning to Merseyside for striker with ongoing injury problems after the Andy Carroll nightmare.

Sturridge  has only played 106 minutes for Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp became manager on October 9 and has not been sighted since the 2-0 defeat at Newcastle on December 6, when he damaged his hamstring.

So the idea that David Sullivan, particularly given his outspoken comments on AC and Charlie Austen in the past could be tempted, would be entirely out of character at best and entirely ludicrous at worst.

We were told  few minutes ago: “We know everything gets blown out of proportion on Deadline Day but the idea of going in for Sturridge given our past experiences beats all.”
