Sullivan calls director of football live on-air

Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry was caught off-guard when live on Sky Sports News when he got a call from West Ham Joint Chairman David Sullivan. Live on-air Fry told Sky Sports viewers “It’s David Sullivan – I’ll ring him back after Deadline Day because I don’t want to sell any of my players”

Fry managed Birmingham City during Gold and Sullivan era and they have remained friends. Birmingham were relegated in his first season in charge, he then won the Division Two championship and the Football League Trophy in 1994–95. During the 1995–96 season, Fry guided the Blues to the semi-finals of the League Cup but was sacked by Sullivan after the club finished 15th in Division One.

After leaving Birmingham, Fry became chairman-manager of Peterborough United later taking up the role of director of football.
