West Ham Chairman David Sullivan was confronted in the Wigan car park yesterday evening by Hammers fans angry at the club’s 2-0 dismissal from the FA Cup.

And the co-chairman allegedly told supporters “We can’t sign anyone!” adding that it was almost impossible to do business in the current January window.

Sullivan challenged West Ham away supporter Nick Mark who they would sign if they were in charge and Marsh duly answered “Jonjo Shelvey”

Marsh writing on twitter account after the car park encounter claimed the chairman answered, “He’s useless!” and they walked off.

The chairman also allegedly revealed to another West Ham supporter the true cost of the Joao Mario loan saying he was on a weekly wage of £101,000 per week plus a £2m loan fee to his parent club.

Since most loans run until the end of June this would mean £2m in wages making the total investment £4m for the Inter Milan midfielder.

David Gold defended his business partner for walking off and sitting in his car after the exchange saying “I don’t think you can criticise DS for getting in the car given what happen to him after we lost 4-0 away to WBA a couple of years ago. dg’
