The £4m FA Cup run

The 5-1 win over Blackburn Rovers yesterday earned West Ham £180,000 in prize money from the FA as winners of the fifth round proper, together with £247,500 to have the game screened live on BT Sport.

We also received a 42% cut of the Ewood Park gate money with and attendance of 18,793 earning a further £158,000, based on tickets priced at £20.

In the previous rounds West Ham earned £67,500 in prize money and £294,000 in gate money for beating Wolves in the Third Round at the Boleyn Ground.

We received another £90,000 in prize money for beating Liverpool in the Fourth Round over two games and we earned £288,000 to have both games screened live on BT Sport. The Anfield FA Cup tie had an attendance of 44,000 at £35 per ticket, netting us around £647,00 in gate money. The replay at the Boleyn Ground earned us around £294,000 with tickets reduced to £20.

So, we have earned close to £1.75m so far for our 2016 Cup run but a draw against Manchester United in the Quarter Final will more than double that!

Should the Red Devils over come Shrewsbury tonight we would get a share of the 75,000 gate at Old Trafford. It will be up to Manchester United to set the prices, but £40 per ticket tends to be the average for our northern rivals. A 75,000 sell-out would bring in £3m of revenue of which we would get £1.26m. Live TV coverage will add another £247,500, and winning the Quarter Final would earn a further £360,000 in prize money and book a date at Wembley for the semis where we start earning serious money for TV rights, prize money and a share of the 90,000 gate!
