West Ham players, staff, fans and celebrities were locked into the Boleyn Ground last night around midnight as the police enforced a complete lock-down of the stadium ahead of the departure of the Manchester United team coach.

Supporters, players and staff were told they were unable to leave the ground until a replacement coach from Reptons was safely escorted from Green Street by the police.

Although the vast majority of the 35,000 crowd had left the area by that time, the police were taking no chances of a repeat of the scenes that met the team bus when the late coach arrived around 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Friend of the website, Nigel Kahn was one of the supporters who was caught up in the restriction after he successfully completed his mission to be last ticket holder to the leave the Sir Trevor Brooking Upper stand where his season ticket was based.

He told Claret and Hugh “We weren’t allowed to leave to ground, we were stopped by the police, my mate and I were the last people to leave the old North bank. Danny Dyer was also told  to wait too as he was stopped from leaving the ground”

While no windows were broken, the blackout covering around the Manchester team coach windows was broken and it was decided to call in a replacement coach to take the team back to Manchester.
