The case for Arthur as Gooners beckon

Disagreement is an inevitability in football and few provoke more of that than Arthur Masuaku.

Give the bloke more than a four or five in ratings and the moan ups start that he’s useless and what’s the problem with the person giving the marks.

Well actually, nothing, because on a poor day at Turf Moor he was one of the livelier performers and given his goal – freak though it was against Chelsea – he deserved a place and did ok.

The question now of course is whether  he keep his place if Aaron Cresswell is available for Arsenal and given the performances of Said Benrahma over recent weeks and notably at Burnley I’d have to say yes.

Benny is a major disappointment for me. One great run and unfortunately placed ball inside isn’t enough for a near £30 million player and Lanzini looks quite his equal without  hitting the heights.

I think the former Bee needs to be rested for the game against the Gooners with Arthur playing in front of Cress.

Maybe to the time has come to give Antonio a rest too with Bowen taking the forward role in which he has rarely disappointed. Mikey has previously been excellent coming off the bench as a super sub. Maybe that’s what he needs.

My team Fabianski; Coufal, Diop, Dawson. Cresswell (if fit), Rice, Soucek, Masuaku, Lanzini, Fornals, Bowen
