The summer window -which clubs are dragging their feet?

The summer transfer window -and what clubs have or haven’t spent – is always a time of the year when debates rage to and fro on the forums.

Most of the discussions remain the same from year to year with accusation and counter accusations being directed at the inactivity or otherwise of  West Ham and other clubs

This year – despite Covid 19 – there are those who believe that we are lagging behind the rest of the league since the window opened and argue that plenty of deals are being done whilst the Irons drag their feet.

So – thanks to Teamtalk at https://talksport.com/football/731702/premier-league-done-deals-2020-summer-transfer-window-manchester-united-arsenal-chelsea-liverpool-willian-werner-ramsdale-hojbjerg/  – we checked out exactly how the market has been going since the last day of the season when the window opened.

And the reality is that the top four or five clubs – with Manchester United a notable absentee – have dominated the business which has been done with six biggish signings involving Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The four  have spent  £141 million of the £183 million (appx) spent so far with Sheffield United splashing out £18 million on Aaron Ramsdale. This means that between them, the remaining 15 clubs clubs have spent 24 million between them.

There are loads of undisclosed fees mentioned which are normally small anyway and in total 36 signings have been made – most of them basically insignificant signings along with three frees.

NB: News has just emerged that Ben Chilwell has joined Chelsea although no fee has yet been mentioned.
