This guy just doesn’t get it!

Gordon Taylor is the last person in the world who should be a trade union leader!

Come to that – and let’s be frank – does the game of football need such an organisation anyway.

The current health problems have presented a problem which has seen the letters PFA arrive into the public domain for the first time in years.

What exactly does it do?

Taylor is allegedly earning around £2 million a year which amounts to much the same as a half decent Prem or Championship player.

And here are his current thoughts on the pay cut row, which has been causing a row throughout the game as players appear to feel they have the right to choose where they put the 30 per cent they may choose to give up.

Of course it may be an entirely different story were they to be asked to loan  the money back to the clubs that employ them.

Quoted by the BBC today Taylor declares: “It is a question of asking players to be involved,” 

“The question needs to come from the clubs and then to open up on the table and say it is not a question of us using your money for purposes you don’t want.”

“It is not for me to tell clubs how to run their businesses. It is for me to look at the players’ side of things,” said Taylor.

Gordon Taylor really doesn’t get it. His job is to protect the livelihoods of his members. End of. He should perhaps be advising them that if thy don’t take cuts there may not be a club for them to go back to.

It is not up to the players to decide at all. It is up to him to explain and that includes demonstrating that clubs are set to go out of business if cuts aren’t made in all areas and that includes them!

It’s hard to advise if you don’t know what your job involves!
