Toffees and Forest wins keep it tight for West Ham

Everton and Nottingham Forest enjoyed thumping victories to escape the bottom three in The Premier League and close the gap on West Ham today (Mon).

However, Leicester City slumped to a 5-3 defeat at Fulham to slide into the relegation zone with Leeds second off bottom and Southampton – beaten 4-3 by Forest – at the City Ground in bottom spot.

Everton and Nottingham Forest enjoyed thumping victories with Morgan Gibbs White in sensational form for Forest.

But the big shock was Sean Dyche’s Toffees who crushed Brighton 5-1 with a devastating display.

It means they are now in 17th place on 32 points, five behind the Hammers in 15th. Forest all but put Saints down with their win this evening and are now in 16th place on 33 points.

The Saints are  on 24 points in bottom place with 24 points and it will take a miracle for them to survive with just three games left to play.

The weekend games see us at Brentford, Saints at home to Fulham, Leeds at home to Newcastle, Everton at home to Manchester City, Forest at Chelsea  and Leicester City at home to Liverpool on Monday night.

The bank holiday results couldn’t have been worse for former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, who’s Leeds team narrowly lost to Manchester City. They now face the daunting task of Eddie Howe’s Champions League chasing Newcastle followed by a trip to The London Stadium.

Big Sam’s final game is against newly resurgent Spurs and it’s hard to see where the points will be gained for him to lift Leeds to Premier League safety.

Leicester’s run-in looks equally bleak with games against Liverpool, Newcastle and finally West Ham on May 28th when the Premier League draws to a close.
