James Tomkins is hoping Enner Valencia doesn’t face burn out later in the season.

The front man has been a hugely exciting  £12 million signing but our home grown defender doesn’t want him to run himself into the ground.

Valencia scored in the 2-2 draw away at Stoke on Saturday and had to lead the line without his partner Diafra Sakho.

Carlton Cole came off the bench with Tomkins hoping Valencia goes the distance this season whilst adding he will be a “huge” player for the Hammers this season.

“Putting a big man like Coley up front means he’s always going to try and hold balls up for us and cause the defence a nuisance,” Tomkins told www.whufc.com.
