The football transfer market could fall as much as 50% this summer although elite transfers at the top end are unlikely to be impacted.

That is the view of Football finance guru Kieran Maguire from the Price of Football and the University of Liverpool.

Maquire says the high end where both clubs are strong are unlikely to hit and gives an example of Timo Werner possible move Chelsea

Chelsea have reportedly triggered RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner’s £53million release clause with wages said to top £200,000 per week for the attacker.

Macquire told Claret and Hugh this morning ‘The elite market when both buyer and seller are strong is likely to see relatively small falls. (Werner an example) Other transfer markets are looking at 30-50% falls.’
The news could be a mixed bag for West Ham, it means many of their transfer targets may be reduced between 30% and 50% but sales of any West Ham players would be equally impacted.
