Former Hammer Matty Etherington appears to have confirmed that news by tweeting:
“Good luck to Kev Nolan on his next chapter, a top man and served well”
Nolan had just under a year remaining on his contract reported to be £50,000 per week. With around £2m of wages left on his contract it is normal practise to offer 75% of the remaining contract value to buy out a player’s contract meaning he could have pocketed up to £1.5m in a golden goodbye.
Nolan has made 157 appearances in all competitions for West Ham scoring 31 goals. He joined West Ham in 2011 for a transfer fee believed to be £4m on a five year contract
