Two changes may bury the Turf Moor bogey
That campaign we finished our best season in ages with a 2-1 victory. Since then it’s been pretty abject with a not very good 1-1 draw the following year and a horrible 2-0 defeat last term.
This time we go there without a win in five PL games whilst the Clarets are have been beaten in their last three and convincingly in the last two – 3-0 at Bramall Lane and 4-2 at home to Chelsea.
There was some credit in 2-1 defeat at Leicester prior to that but it’s been all downhill since.. However, with us being the team we are, stats perhaps don’t count for too much.
If they did we would be looking hard at the result against the Blades and perhaps reading quite a lot into it.
How the boss will approach this – given recent selections – is like trying to pick the lottery numbers but I see a couple of changes in the offing which may make a difference.
With slight signs that Lanzini may be coming back to some form, a start for the player looks likely and maybe he could tuck in alongside Declan Rice as the spring forward midfielder rather than Nobes who looks badly in need of a rest.
I think there could be a recall for Arthur Masuaku who could take on that attacking left wing role with Felipe Anderson switched to play in the hole behind Haller.
Somehow we have start unpicking defences and we really need to do that against a side that has conceded nine goals in the last three games and lost six games this term without a hint of anyone at Burnley claiming boss Sean Dyche should be fired.
As I said, stats don’t always means much!
We can pick teams all night long but what we really need is a totally different attitude from the 11 the boss put out there – Snoddy, you are excepted from that!
