Owner and Chairman of Aston Villa Dr Tony Xia says rumours about his club’s interest in Hammer Robert Snodgrass are made up.

Reports in the Sun yesterday claimed Bruce was ready to offer Snodgrass an escape route. TalkSPORT presenter Sam Matterface said on social media “(Steve) Bruce just told me “no money to buy someone like Snodgrass or Rhodes” and worse conditions since he was a kid!!!”

The chairman responded on twitter to say “Rumours made by whom? Both were never in our radar…” later adding “Even not with FFP , they were not in our list …complete made up rumours”

Previously club insiders have admitted there was one small inquiry from Brighton as to his availability earlier this summer but this was never followed up with a formal bid. His high wages of £60,000 per week are thought to be a challenge to any of the Championship clubs and there appears to be little current interest in the Premier League. West Ham paid Hull City £10m for the Scotsman services in January.
