Jonjo Shelvey aka Voldermort will not face disciplinary action following his clash with West Ham’s Enner Valencia on Saturday.

The Newcastle £12million signing  who was making his debut during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at St James’ Park used his shoulder to barge the Ecuadorian in an off-the-ball incident missed by referee Neil Swarbrick.

An independent FA panel of three former referees has now reviewed footage of the clash in light of Swarbrick’s report.

They have to decide unanimously if a red card was warranted. However, no further action will be taken against the 23-year-old.

Shelvey said of the incident  “I felt contact on my shoulder and have obviously lent in with my shoulder. People are saying it’s a red card, but it’s part of football, you are going to have comings-together.”

‘I did apologise and he’s apologised to me, it’s one of those things that happens in football”
