We are all going to love this new Hammer to bits

Listening to players talk the talk and watching them kiss the badge is often pretty sickening.

Too often they often mouth the usual cliches about how thrilled they are to be living the dream before clearing off a season or two later the minute a big club arrives on the scene.

I really don’t think Diafra Sakho will turn out to be such an individual as it must be clear to everybody who has followed his complicated transfer sage that this guy is precisely where he wants to be – the Boleyn.

He was reportedly in tears when his move initially fell though and since its resurrection has shown nothing but a deep rooted affection for the place he’s now at.

He spoke to the official site yesterday and among the many positive things he said were:

O “It’s only been a couple of weeks but I feel right at home already. It’s a real family Club and that’s what’s really touched me.

O “I want to achieve things with West Ham and lots of them. I am super motivated.

O “Against Sheffield United, the manager asked me to do a job on the right-hand side and, while it was a new experience for me, I really enjoyed it.

O “Whenever I turn out at the Boleyn Ground, the minimum I’m aiming for is to score once!”

Down the years I’ve conducted many interviews with many players but I can’t recall any explaining his minimum requirement is a goal every home game.

And the nature of the remainder of the interview shows a man who has arrived at his perfect destination and will give it his all.

Sakho is a man on a mission – he is not a massive signing but his attitude towards his new club is entirely admirable.

This is the young man I believe will be taken into every Hammers fans heart.
