West Ham have allegedly sent a letter to some the Premier League’s top clubs ahead of the January transfer window as part of a bid to boost their squad with Premier League experienced players claim the Daily Telegraph.

The reports claim the Hammers have made specific enquiries over Michy Batshuayi, Daniel Sturridge, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on loan but have also made a more general plea to the clubs.

West Ham have sent letters out to Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United asking whether they have any strikers, full-backs or central defenders they would be prepared to loan out in the January window.

West Ham Chairman David Sullivan has previously criticised the January transfer window claiming that prices are often inflated and it is difficult to get any real value for money.

It could also be said you can count on one hand the West Ham January transfer successes we have enjoyed.  The notable exception being Demba Ba!

Another dynamic will be the board’s current trust in Slaven Bilic’s transfer targets. After being badly burned in the summer with the likes of Gokhan Tore and Simone Zaza the board could be less willing to take on permanent gambles on Bilic’s  January targets.
