A West Ham fan dialled in to BBC radio’s 606 phone-in show to fire an angry broadside at Leicester fans. The fan, named as James, told hosts Ian Wright and Kelly Cates that Leicester fans should stop complaining about the fact that their team is now just one point above the bottom spot.

He said: “Leicester City fans, Shut. Up. Moaning. You’re the Premier League champions. Three years ago, you was in the Championship, you’ve come up, you’ve thought you was going to get relegated. You stayed up with an amazing run, you then won the Premier League.

“If you get relegated again, so what? Who cares? You’ve got those memories for the rest of your life. How many other clubs would give their right hand for that?”

The caller said that as a West Ham fan he would be delighted to be in the same predicament. He added: “You should be the happiest fans in the country, you should all be running around with smiles on your faces going: ‘We won the league’.”

James went on: “You might go down, you might not. If you do, so what? You pulled off a miracle, an absolute miracle. Why are you moaning?”
