West Ham fans United at London Stadium

For probably the first time this season West Ham supporters were UNITED in one simple common goal. No difference of opinion about standing or sitting, the popcorn, the stewards, the distance from the pitch or the walk to and from the station. Everyone was UNITED in their disgust of Payet’s behaviour in his refusal to play for the Hammers. We wanted the team to prove him wrong on the pitch, we wanted West Ham fans to show we didn’t need him. It did no harm that it was the return of Sam Allardyce who divided so many supporters when he was West Ham’s manager. The message was clear we wanted to beat Palace without Payet.

So many season ticket holders agree that the second half of the 3-0 win against against Crystal Palace was the best atmosphere so far at the London Stadium surpassing even the EFL cup win over Chelsea on an evening game which was pretty special itself minus the troubles at the end.

We left the away fans to fight with the stewards  and beat their drum as West Ham supporters sung their hearts out, cheered and made the London Stadium feel like a football stadium for 45 minutes.

Many have said that if the Hammers started winning convincingly at home on the London Stadium pitch then a lot of the imperfections could be overlooked or forgotten and Saturday afternoon seems to prove that theory.

A few more three or four nil wins at home  in the second half of the season and the place will feel like home in no time at all!

Is the stadium perfect? NO!  Do we care if we won every game at home NO!
