West Ham fans will be diverted during development
The International Quarter (TIQ) is a new residential and business development under construction on a parcel of land situated between the Park and Westfield Stratford City Shopping centre. The development has a projected completion date of Spring 2018.
The primary route for access for Hammers supporters is via a direct pedestrian route known as the ‘Stitch’, located between Chestnut Plaza and the Aquatics Centre. Secondary routes of travel in the vicinity include a route between Stratford International station and the park.
Planning permission documents seen by Claret and Hugh say it is the intention the Stitch be temporarily relocated for the duration of the development of TIQ. Football supporters will no longer be able to directly access the London stadium between Chestnut Plaza and the Aquatics Centre, but through entrance points located further north.
For Phase 1 of the Stitch diversion supporters will access the park adjacent to the east-west route linking Westfield Avenue to Four Dials in Westfield. For Phase 2 of the Stitch diversion supporters will be able to access the park adjacent to the North-west corner of John Lewis.
The diversions are likely to add extra minutes on the walk from Stratford tube station and town centre.
