New signing Jack Wilshere was missing from yesterday’s friendly against Wycombe Wanderers as he not quite match fit. He expected to step up his pre-season training when he reports to Rush Green tomorrow morning and is one week behind the rest of the squad. Aaron Cresswell was another absentee yesterday as he has a slight groin strain but nothing major and he is expected to resume training at Rush Green next week.

Ryan Fredericks has a minor sore ankle and was left out as a precaution and is another who will resume training on Monday.

Michail Antonio continues to recover from his operation on his hamstring, he is aiming to get match fit for the first game of the Premier League season.

Long-term absentees are Andy Carroll who suffered discomfort in his ankle after the game in Switzerland, he requires minor surgery on the ankle to stabilise it and he is likely to be out between three and four months.

Winston Reid hasn’t recovered properly either and faces a new knee operation, while it is too early to say the latest is estimate is he could be out anywhere between three and nine months.

Manuel Lanzini continues to recover from his ACL operation from an injury he suffered in the World Cup warm-up for Argentina. He optimistic of an early return next year but estimates of his return vary between six and twelve months.
