Work has started to cover up the gaps between the London Stadium lower stands and the concourse. The retractable seating has moved forward 15 metres leaving unsightly views  under the seating of scaffolding, breeze blocks and unused seating exposed for all to see.

West Ham plan to cover these gaps up with Claret and Blue fabric sails before the Bournemouth match and ClaretandHugh player ratings man, Niall Mcdonald spotted and photographed the first blue fabric sail in place on Sunday during the Juventus friendly.

West Ham appointed a company called Fabric Architecture to design, engineer, manufacture and install large-scale fabric covers over the retractable seating gaps inside the former Olympic Stadium.

The company has released a press release saying: “Building on the strong relationships formed with senior members of the project team from Olympic Park related projects like Westfield Stratford, Fabric Architecture was well positioned to take on further challenges. West Ham United had, for many years, looked at possible options for the seating covers, particularly relating to the fixing detail. However they had been unable to find a supplier who could resolve the range of complex issues so approached Fabric Architecture for a solution.”
