West Ham pay the price

For the 2021–22 season, group stage participation in the Europa League is awarded a base fee of €3,630,000 with each group win worth €630,000 and €210,000 for a draw.

The base fee was worth £3,066,636 to West Ham when converted with a group win translating to around £532,000 and a draw around £180,500

Last’s night own goal cost the Hammers £180,000 in lost bonus with a draw last night over Genk adding just £180,500 meaning the Hammers bonus pot has already reached almost £1.8m in bonuses plus the £3m base fee bringing the running total to £4.8m.

Winning the remaining group games could earn the Hammers another £1m while there is also a €1,100,000 (£929,000) bonus for winning the group meaning  another £2m is up for grabs at this stage of the European competition.

West Ham are on target to earn over £6m from the group stage, add to that ticket revenue of two London Stadium home so far off 50,000 and 46,000 with a third likely to be very similar.

The Hammers can also expect to get a share of the TV broadcast rights market pool meaning the group stage alone could earn West Ham over £10m.
