This morning, the Liverpool Echo claimed to have solved the mystery of Liverpool player Jordon Ibe photographed in a West Ham shirt which went viral on the internet on Monday.

The Echo claimed this morning “The ECHO understands that the photos are genuine but it wasn’t a sign that Ibe is about to join Slaven Bilic’s men was in fact having a kickaround with mates in a local park in Essex when he agreed to pose for photos with fans. Among his friends was Nathan Mavila, who is on the books at West Ham. Ibe had borrowed a Hammers shirt from his pal which used to belong to France international Dimitri Payet.”

Only problem with this theory is the West Ham academy player knows nothing about it.

When ClaretandHugh contacted Mavila on social media earlier today to ask if he lent a Hammers top to Ibe during a kick in an Essex park he simply replied  “ rubbish mate

Nice try Liverpool Echo but we are still none the wiser. The photo appears to show Reece Oxford in the background. Ibe played for Liverpool against West Ham in the FA Cup at Anfield earlier this year while Reece Oxford was included on the bench in that game. Both are part of the England youth setup.
