West Ham will appeal the FA charge against Manuel Lanzini before the 6pm deadline today. Manuel Lanzini was charged by the FA for deceiving a match official in the Hammers 3-0 win at Stoke on Saturday and faces a two-match ban if found guilty.

The Argentine won a penalty in the 18th minute having gone to ground following a challenge from Stoke defender Erik Pieters. The news means the Argentine will eligible to play in tonight’s League cup game against Arsenal at the Emirates but faces missing league games against Newcastle and Bournemouth if the appeal fails.

A club insider confirmed to Claret and Hugh this morning that the club intends to file an appeal.

The appeal will go in front of the FA Independent Regulatory Commission often called the three wise men.

Yesterday the Lanzini incident was reviewed by an FA panel comprising a former manager, an ex-player and former referee, who watched the footage independently. They unanimously agreed that Lanzini deceived the match official leading to the FA Charge.
