West Ham appear to have beaten Leeds, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Barnsley and Bristol City for the signature of young Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher.

It is claimed that the Hammers agreed to meet the £7,000-per-week terms that 20 year old Fletcher and his agent had been asking for.

Although Fletcher has yet to appear in a competitive game for Manchester United, the Red Devils offered him a new contract believing he still had a future at the club. It appears he thinks his chances of breaking through to the first team will be limited under an incoming Jose with a massive budget to spend.

Last season he scored 9 goals in 27 appearances while on loan at Barnsley, including the opener in their play-off final victory over Millwall. That makes him an instant West Ham hero.

The Daily Express claim he is undergoing a medical with an announcement expected soon. I am sure they are not far wrong and we give the highest rumour rater on this one.
