Fabianski:3 Quick off his line to thwart Wilson. Delivered a hospital pass to Aguerd for Newcastle’s third. Excellent save from Murphy. Made a second howler by rushing off his line and gifting Issak the 4th goal.

Kehrer:4 Conceded an unnecessary corner early in the game which was the start of the sequence for the first goal. Looked a bag of nerves thereafter.

Zouma:6 Could have got to Wilson for Newcastle’s opener on 6 mins. Always susceptible to the through-ball from deep. Redeemed himself with a towering header from a corner.

Aguerd:3 Neither Aguerd or Zouma covered themselves in glory for the first two goals. Should have cleared the ball when surprisingly given it by Fabianski. Overall a poor display of defending.

Emerson:6 Played Joelinton onside for the Toon’s second after 11 mins. Grew into the game and made some crunching tackles.

Rice:6 Great driving run on the 30 min mark set up Antonio. Tried to rally his team throughout but nothing he could do about the individual errors behind him.

Soucek:4 Made a couple of early tackles but and won West Ham a freekick in a dangerous area. Ultimately outmaneuvered by Newcastle’s more agile midfield.

Paqueta:6 Not entirely sure why he was marking Wilson. Forced a good save from Pope with a freekick. Looked better for a spell late in the first half and enjoyed a few decent moments.

Bowen:7 Good early fun into Newcastle’s box almost resulted in a Magpies own goal. Delivered the corner for Zouma’s goal. Was a menace for Burn to deal with all game.

Benrahma:6 Excellent early dribble won a corner as West Ham began the game brightly. Didn’t hide, even at 2-0 down.

Antonio:7 Thankless task operating in isolation for most of the game. Never stopped working and made an amazing solo-run in the 38th min. Should have remained on the pitch to partner Ings.

Ings:5 Part of a 4 pronged  substitution in the 63rd min to replace Antonio

Downes:7 On for Soucek and demonstrated much more dexterity and awareness.

Cornet:6 On for Benrahma

Coufal:5 Replaced Kehrer and was initially better but caught out for Newcastle’s 5th.
