West Ham’s third kit will be officially released on 1st August and pay homage to the Thames Ironworks kit of 1897 ClaretandHugh understands. The kit is said be Oxford blue in colour and will be inspired  heavily on Thames Ironworks who played in a dark blue colour in recognition of founder Arnold Hills who played for both Harrow School and Oxford University in the same colours.

Unconfirmed rumours suggest the Thames Ironworks original Union Jack badge with TIW FC written on it might adorn the third shirt.

If true, this means the shirt can not be used in competitive matches but could be used in friendlies with the speculation that West Ham could wear it when the Hammers meet Juventus on Sunday 7th August in the former Olympic Stadium.

The kit image above is the original kit from 1897 so the new design would be a modern interpretation by Umbro of the Thames Ironworks kit.

West Ham produced a teaser during the Home Kit launch video outside the new club store with a picture of Mark Noble, Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell dressed up in workmen overalls with Cresswell  an Iron ship building hammer with the date 01-08-16 and sponsor Betway above it.
