What a horrible way to say goodbye to such great fans

Lanzini enjoyed a top game

West Ham 0 Liverpool 4

It’s always as well to hold your hands up when you are clearly second best but let’s be honest West Ham were never truly at it and for that there is no excuse.

To play for the first 15 minutes and then hand the game over to the visitors is simply not on. The intensity we saw against Spurs and the high pressing game we employed was nowhere to be seen.

To rely on a counter attacking game against a team such as Liverpool, full of great game changers, is a form of madness that only seems to affect West Ham.

The goals came from Daniel Sturridge after 35 mins, Coutinho (57, 61) and Origi 75 as the defensive system which had served us well in the previous three games fell apart due to a combination of sloppy marking and tackling and some fine individual skills.

Where this performance leaves Bilic we can only guess at because there was a genuine feeling inside the club that these sort of performances were  part of our past.

To have been beaten so comprehensively in a game which demanded we got on the front foot or at the very least defend with real conviction was a shocking way to say goodbye to the fans.

There are some who tend to over-react in the boardroom and although I expect the manager to start next season, a similar display at Burnley next weekend could even now cause him a serious problem.

Manu Lanzini was again the one player to come out of the game with real credit and we need to remember that on top of all the other problems we had Noble and Kouyate missing from midfield.

They are two big holes to fill and we simply do not have sufficiently good players to handle that sort of situation but having said that this was simply not good enough and a horrible way to say farewell to the best fans in the land.
