WHUISA statement
As chair of the West Ham United Independent Supporters Association (WHUISA) I just wanted to update everyone on the current situation after yesterday’s cancellation.
We were happy to support the Real West Ham Fans Campaign Group, and and welcomed the opportunity to join them in meeting Karren Brady and her colleagues.
As the only organisation affiliated to the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) we felt it was important to be part of the discussions with the club.
We only became part of the group after the announcement of the protest march and throughout the discussions with the club we made it clear at every junction that we believed the march should happen, including after the meeting on Wednesday 28th February.
WHUISA exists to represent our members and the feeling amongst fans as best we can. Our members and the wider fan base made it abundantly clear that they want the march to happen so we have taken action.
We have today worked with the FSF, the Met Police and spoken to Newham Council to save the march and give our fans a chance to show their lack of confidence in the current direction of West Ham United. As it stands there will be a change of route but the authorities are in consultation for a peaceful protest to go ahead on Saturday 10th March.
We ask people to be patient while we complete the consultation and hopefully give all West Ham fans a chance to have their voice heard. In the meantime please check back via the WHUISA website or our social media channels.
