Why Moyes is focused on priority target

West Ham are preparing a third bid for Burnley’s James Tarkowski which could hit the £30 million mark.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche has made it clear that at a club like his every player has his price and the Irons will do all they can to test his resolve on the player.

David Moyes – whilst seeing right back as his problem position – sees him as a must have player as he is  aware that the 27 year old can play in that position as well as defensive midfield.

The Hammers are remaining very quiet on their other possible targets as they bid to plug the gaps in their unbalanced squad which remains top heavy on wingers.

However, unless there is a breakthrough on the Tarkowski deal it now seems impossible that there will be any new arrivals in the team for the opening game against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Whilst he will be attempting to add a left back before the end of the window his major issue is at right back where either Ryan Fredericks or young Ben Johnson are seen as the answer.

A Hammers source told us: “There’s been much talk of why the manager is not making right back his priority and it may be because Trakowski can  play that role or that he is considering three at the back.”
