Why Rice WON’T leave in January

I love a bet, with football running horse racing  a close second.

My football bets normally go straight down the kazi but if I could get the right odds I’d have a massive bet on a certain young man still being at this club by the end of the season.

It’s beginning to become very obvious indeed when various media outlets don’t have any stories – especially in the international break – that Declan Rice and Chelsea’s names appear in the same sentence.

I’ve read all manner of stuff which has had my eyes glazing over during international break ( I await the rude remarks LOL ) but honestly, when I start seeing the the names Chelsea and Rice finding their way into the same sentence I absolutely despair.

At least six papers and websites had him on his way in the summer. It was never going to happen, there was no move from Chelsea and West Ham were never going to sell anyway.

It won’t happen in January either simply because there’s too much at stake for the selling club whether they are heading towards the top or bottom.

Declan has been made skipper, he is therefore on a new pay deal, the club are in no mood to sell and although the stories are fuelled by news of new borrowing, like many others, West Ham do not have the bailiffs knocking on the door.

There is every chance the Hammers could be looking towards the European places which means he would go nowhere. Should the wheels fall off and they head in the other direction there’s no chance of him departing.

What happens next summer happens but the ‘Rice for Chelsea’  story this winter has no legs so let’s forget it and get on with our season.
