William Carvalho Update

West Ham are hoping to secure the club record signing of William Carvalho, for a fee of up to £36million, by the end of this week says Jason Burt in the Telegraph following yesterday’s departure of Sofiane Feghouli to Galatasaray.

As previously reported by Claret and Hugh No fee has yet been agreed but sources close the club suggest that a breakthrough can be expected following the first leg of Sporting Lisbon’s Champions League play-off against Steaua Bucharest at home on Tuesday despite the player’s suspension.

Sporting have been holding out for 40million euros (£36million) for Carvalho and have rejected a previous bid of 30million euros (£27.2million) from West Ham last week but it is believed that since then talks have progressed and a final bid of 33m euros (£30m) plus up to £6m in potential add-ons is expected to close the deal.
