Sadly, and this is not intended as a criticism of the player, he will – if he misses the rest of the campaign – have made just 49 Premier League appearances from a possible 114 since arriving at the club – many of those of course have been as a sub.
He was still recovering from injury when arriving from Borussia Dortmund as one of Pellegrini’s first signings and since then has missed a total of 45 games with the 2018/19 season being a washout with 32 games and 252 days on the side lines.
He’s obviously bound for the exit door in the summer assuming the Irons can find a buyer with the Hammers looking for some sort of fee given he is out of contract in the June of 2022.
However, the club will have a tough job on its hand with Felipe Anderson and Manu Lanzini more than possibly amongst those for whom they will be hoping to move on.
