West Ham 1 Swansea 0

First things first – well done crowd – every single one of you…you were magnificent from start to finish on one of the most anxious afternoons any of us have experienced.

From the loudest ‘Bubbles’  in a long time at the start until the relieved crescendo of noise at the end the players and club could have asked no more of you.

I rate you 11 out of 10!

You had to watch a very poor game of football, probably as bad as any of us can remember but what the hell,  only one thing mattered and it happened to leave us eight points clear of Swansea via a fantastic shot from Cheik Kouyate who for me is West Ham captaincy material.

He had so little to aim at but from outside the box fired home a beauty which gave Fabianski absolutely no chance and relieved any last lingering fears of relegation almost entirely.

It lifted us into the 14th place and with Hull losing at Manchester City means we are now six points clear of them and looking good for safety.

For reasons which we will discover soon both Sakho and Carroll were left on the bench with Ayew playing as the nine.

There were two huge downsides – Antonio went off with a hammie and Mark Noble will miss two games through suspension for his tenth yellow of the season.

To be honest Swansea were pitiful but still caused problems as we fell back in the second half and Darren Randolph looked like a keeper who was bereft of confidence at times.

But Collins and Byram did well and Lanzini was outstanding although Fonte was again left for dead on too many occasions.

Never mind all that matters was that priceless Kouyate strike. Now let’s hope the lads can all relax a bit and start to play some real football in the upcoming games.

Oh and the ClaretandHugh flag flew for the first time – we knew it would change our fortunes!!! LOOOOOL
