Kurt Zouma is sweating over his West Ham place as Nayef Aguerd nears a return.

Aguerd is back on the grass and is continuing to train, although he is yet to be in contention to play regularly.

Still, the Morocco international is working hard every day in order to make his return and that has left Zouma looking over his shoulder.

Sources at the club have confirmed that there are some concerns over Zouma’s performances this season, with him seemingly losing a yard of pace.

There is no immediate suggestion manager David Moyes is unhappy with him, but there is a feeling that he may well be rotated out of the side once Aguerd is back.

Moyes has spoken very highly of Thilo Kehrer, the summer signing from PSG who was bought after Aguerd sustained his pre-season injury, and has even suggested he could become captain.

As a result, he feels somewhat undroppable, leading to the suggestion that Aguerd and Kehrer could be the first-choice centre-back pairing moving forward, once everyone is healthy.
