’66 World Cup winning keeper Banks slams Hart

BanksEngland’s World Cup winning  goalkeeper has raged that Joe Hart is making “terrible mistakes” at international level and should make way for Jack Butland as the number one choice.

Hart, 30, has won 75 caps but former keeper Banks told BBC Sport: “I don’t think he is playing well, especially when they kick it to him and he can’t pick up.

“I see him make terrible mistakes, lots of times he is lucky they don’t score.”

Banks, 79, would prefer to see Stoke keeper Butland start at the World Cup in Russia next summer.

The 24-year-old missed England’s friendly draws with Germany and Braziland is yet to return for the Potters.

“I think Jack Butland is a really good goalkeeper,” said Banks.

“He’s been unlucky that he had that injury and broke his finger, because I am sure he was going to be playing in at least one of those friendlies.”

I saw the interview some of those quotes are taken from and he said it was an uncomfortable situation (with all the speculation) which is not the same, he said as it says in the interview he enjoyed the short time working with Bilic, not that I am defending Bilic I am critical of him lol but Hart wasn’t digging him out imo 🙂

On England I agree I think Hart should make way I thought Heaton should have been #1 last season above him. Butland Pickford & now even Pope should have a shot.
Hart was suppose to be a leader & organise that hasn’t happen I don’t think he is a better shot stopper then Adrian or Faster. But his wages are so high he will start.
I hope Adrian has an unbelievable game against City bc Hart won’t be around come summer.

Hart is even having a dig at BIlic now too

In all honesty you can take your pick and apportion blame to every player this season. The amount of individual mistakes is horrendous.Penalties conceded, missed penalty, red cards,Last minute goals conceded, losing possession, its a catalogue of disasters and shows no sign of ending. They all need to sort this together and start playing like a team as opposed to 11 individuals who are all over the place.

    • JRS says:

Agree 64 that’s we are not a team. Just a group of individuals & we have made more individual errors leading to goals then any other PL team since 2015 season started.
Its outstanding how bad this high paid players are & not even much individual talent is showing thru much.
Our recruitment has really hurt us not addressing areas needed that are obvious to most fans & training being so lax for so long our boards indecisiveness & lack of investment & hiring proper professionals instead of Sully doing it

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

It’s difficult to argue against him though, isn’t it? It’s tough to know how much blame to apportion to him, and how much to our useless defenders when evaluating whether he is still a good keeper…

  • Hammerforlife says:

Nothing to do with you being an ex Stoke player wanting to big up a current Stoke player though, eh Gordon?
