Callum Wilson breaks silence on Hammers bid

bet-callum-wilson-bournemouth-afc_3182697Bournemouth’s striker Callum Wilson admitted he had been flattered by recent transfer speculation but also insisted he was a “loyal person”.

Wilson and team-mate Matt Ritchie were the subject of a failed £20million bid from West Ham this week.

The 24-year-old told the Bournemouth Echo: “I am a loyal person. I am grateful to Bournemouth for giving me the opportunity to play at a high level in the Championship.”

“We had a good season last year and got promoted and then I got my chance to play in the Premier League. I want to maintain that for as long as possible.”

And asked whether he had been surprised to have been the subject a bid after his recent injury, Wilson replied: “Because I had been out for six months, I didn’t take much notice of it. I had just come back from injury and then, all of a sudden, I was being linked with clubs. It was a bit unrealistic. You take confidence from your name being linked with big clubs.”

I’m not adverse to a risk or two but it is all dependent on the fee involved. If silly money then no but if a realistic fee then sometimes you have to take a punt I think.Sakho,Antonio,Cresswell,no one would have been shouting from the rooftops about them because of there background in second divisions but all three have proven themselves to be astute signings for the fee involved.

IMO, Wilson is too big a risk, unproven at PL level. So a BIG NO from me on this signing, we can sign better players than him for a lot less risk and money. My preference is Lukaka. Lukaka is proven, slap a 35m pound bid in, much less risk than Wilson. I would then offload Carroll. I would keep Sakho and Valencia and sign the French lad and Tore. I would also sign a top RB – perhaps even from the championship.

If WBA want him we should approach them with a cash plus player bid for Barahino take it or leave it,
If not we will get our money back from China,
Wilson is worth being persistent and don’t take no for an answer,he would come to us and we need to show the Spuds who is number 1 in London,

Is that the word on the street today then Essex, that WBA want Valencia?? Or is it just Mystic Bradders & his crystal ballsh*t 😉

  • essexclarets says:

Imo signing this lad would be a good move, no disrespect to Bournemouth but he will need to move to a bigger club to reach his protential. Before his injury start of last season he tore our defence a new ar$e hole, yoùng enough & will peak in the next few years. Sell Valencia to WBA & replace him with Wilson.
