Slav set to welcome back the ‘prodigal’

sakhoSlaven Bilic has made the first public step in welcoming the imminent return of Diafra Sakho.

Sak is expected to return before the end of the month with David Gold even suggesting he could play a part in the Cup match next week against Chelsea

And the manager has now made it clear that the sometimes troubled striker remains part of his thinking saying: “He knows I have always rated him.”

But he added: ” “He has got to perform and play well. I’m expecting a lot from him when he comes back.”

Meanwhile Zaza looks set to again lead the line against Sunderland after his improved showing against Palace with the manager saying: ““It was a really good performance from him.

“I told him that he won more duels in that game than four or five games before that altogether. And you could see after the game that he was happy and proud about the performance.

““I also told him the goals will come. It’s not all about goals, of course, but they are one of the reasons why we wanted him.”

  1. Still think a “loved” Sacko would be much preferable to most of the so called marquee strikers we did not get . Get is head right and make him feel wanted and send “gabor ” home .

  2. What a great opportunity for him to get the crowd back!! No striker can score right now. If he scores after all this time out he will be treated like the Messiah!!!

  3. I for one cannot wait to see him back. The defence looks sorted now after shipping goals for fun earlier.Midfield is creating chances as illustrated yesterday which brings us back to the same perennial problem of having a regular goalscorer up top.I know its been said before on so many occasions but the missing piece is still a 20 plus striker and has been for a long time.Sak will chip in with some goals we all know that but I feel the club has to do everything they can to somehow attract a top drawer striker.Easier said than done I know judging by the number of rejections we had in the Summer.
