Arnie: It’s the international break so here we go again

|

The brothers Arnautovic

Separating fact from fiction when football transfer talk is the subject would defeat many forensic scientists…except in the case of Danijel Arnautovic when it becomes pretty easy to read.

After all, it’s not as though we haven’t been here before and as usual it’s in the international break.

When Marko’s future has come under discussion it seems to be Danijel who makes most of the noise.

And as we understand it from a major London Stadium sourtce  source it is he who has made it clear that a hefty pay rise should be handed to the club’s so called “talisman” after the story broke in The Sun.

The club – with four years left on Marko’s deal – have given a “no way Jose” answer, knowing the dressing room dramas that would cause and it’s unlikely that even a marginal offer will be made.

Whilst all this has been going on there is next to nothing out of Marko’s mouth which was the same back in the summer when he stayed schtoom as Manchester United and Mourinho were mentioned.

Interestingly, there was absolutely no follow up from Old Trafford!

I think possibly the best way to proceed is to get on with our lives and expect this one will go away as it has done in the past.

International breaks are notorious for these sort of stories because with little else around to report at club level, they get more media oxygen than they deserve. The last such Arnie story came at the same sort of time.

I expect there will be more Danijel quotes at some stage but I don’t think this is the time to become overly concerned  given the previous.

We move on!
