Cornet setback amid injury update

David Moyes has revealed that Maxwel Cornet has suffered a setback in his injury recovery.

The Ivory Coast international has been absent since sustaining a thigh injury against Wolves on October 1st.

Since then, he has missed the clashes with Fulham, Southampton, Liverpool, and Bournemouth in the Premier League and is not likely to be available for the Europa Conference League clash with Silkeborg on Thursday.

The Hammers play Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and it appears that Cornet is a major doubt for that game too.

Against Silkeborg, there will also be no Craig Dawson, while Lucas Paqueta, as we reported this morning, remains unavailable for selection.

Speaking ahead of the European tie, Moyes told reporters, as per the club’s official website: “Cornet has had a small setback in training so he’s not available. Dawson is improving but is not fit enough for the game, and Lucas Paqueta is not available.

“But hopefully they are not too far away but really touch and go for Sunday as well.”

Cornet has made just one Premier League start thus far this term and has yet to score, although his late goal against Chelsea was incorrectly ruled out.
