I have two things to say about yesterday before getting on with Christmas!
As a bloke who loves a punt I have learned you need to be a good loser before you can be a good winner and whilst both teams were decent yesterday Watford were slightly better.
Yes, of course, I wanted a win regardless but at lets at least give some credit to a team who played some decent stuff and took their chances.
In some respects, it was Fulham in reverse where the Cottagers created lots of pressure and we took those two outstanding moments to turn the game.
We are a better team away and I’m expecting a minimum of four points from Saints and Burnley so let’s put yesterday behind us and look forward to 28 points by the new year.
Better than most would have expected by far!
My second point is Andy Carroll and despite my criticisms of the past I am ready to say that I’m not quite ready to give up on him.
The usual snipes that we stop playing when he comes on have already surfaced on the forums but we know what he is and it was clearly what the manager was after yesterday when taking Noble off.
With better service into him it might have been fair to judge him but I didn’t see one decent cross and thus I’m reserving judgement.
No his contribution wasn’t incisive but he looked fitter and with a few more games behind him who knows so long as he remains injury free
I’m not ready to give up on him just yet and am perfectly ready to let the boss make a decision when the time is right.
