Declan Rice doesn’t sound like a guy who is ready to move away from West Ham.
Every word that comes from his mouth is positive regarding the team and fans who he has once again be lauding to the skies.
His contract position continues to rumble on causing concern among the fans and that is entirely natural but those who have been close to him over the last few years claim he is a Hammer to his backbone and determined to stay unless it is made entirely impossible.
His latest words after the game against Fulham bear out his feeling towards the fans who were singing in the rain throughout 90 winning minutes as Dec produced yet another par excellent performance.
And his first thoughts were directed at them and their dedication to the club with all of us wanting to believe we see the same from him and the board when the next round of talks on his deal are due – probably in the summer.
Talking to www.whufc.com he said of the supporters: ““They were absolutely outstanding. They come every game – away or home – and it’s outstanding from them. To give them the three points, in this weather, is special!”
He added: “It’s a massive result. We knew Fulham were bottom of the league but they had a home game today and they were going to come out fighting.
“We got two goals in the first half, and our defensive shape has been excellent. We know we’ve got the speed. We started with Antonio up top with Chicharito, and Felipe Anderson out wide, but I think that’s why we defended so well.
“We picked them off on the break, and where they were so high up, we caught them on the counter.”
“I thought the whole team was excellent. To come away with the three points today, to make it four in a row; the lads are buzzing.
“We lost the first four games and the manager has always said we have to try to recover those points. Over the last four games we’ve done that, and now we look to Watford.”
