Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!

This idiom means that if someone is providing you with necessities, you shouldn’t disrespect them, be ungrateful, or criticize their behaviour lest he or she turns around and takes away what you need.

While it is great that the Premier League captains have launched the Players Together initiative they need to take a closer look to home also if they want to retain their living for years to come.

Even the richest clubs are not immune to the financial effects of the current crisis and to date, the response through the PFA and union fat-cat Gordon Taylor has appeared like a squabble from the outside.

There is no doubt many football clubs will fail when this is all over and many players could find their themselves out of work.

If a club doesn’t pay wages a player for over two months the player can rip up their contract and walk away for free.

Players need to be realistic and agree to a deferment of wages as soon as possible across the board to help clubs with temporarily cash flow issues.

This will be able to protect non-playing staff and the players will get their wages back info full when the Premier Season is finished and club income streams return to normal.

I don’t think it is a lot to ask.
