Hammer Horror Show

Sorry but I couldn’t resist the Halloween themed headline but it is quite apt. Our inability to hold on to a 2-0 lead against a struggling team without a striker was horrific whilst Antonio displayed the dexterity of Herman Munster at the end.

Anyway what started out as a promising day turned quite sour at the end (I’m sure I’ve written that before) and what seemed like a victory for Crystal Palace felt like a defeat for us. In truth the point was probably not good enough for Woy Hodgson’s Eagles and it will certainly not suffice for us with a run of nasty fixtures on the horizon.

Something needs to give and action is required because it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that we will be flirting with the relegation places at Christmas time.  Maybe I’ll be writing headlines like “Santa Bilic Gifts Bournemouth 3 Points” or even worse some Easter inspired titles.

I jest of course but the bigger picture is that this is not the start of the season and we appear to have ongoing problems. I am seriously concerned that West Ham are sleepwalking towards relegation and that the board believe there is enough quality in the squad to overcome Bilic’s tactical deficiency’s. They may be correct in that assumption but it’s a huge risk to take and as you can see from the article below the board have gambled and lost before. Two moments of magic from Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew  suggest that there is individual quality but collectively there are reoccurring problems.

Wembley was a fantastic result but it was papering over the cracks and if it’s taken out of the equation then things don’t look quite so rosy. A 3-0 loss at home to Brighton followed by yesterdays  collapse against a team in turmoil doesn’t look like a corner has been turned. It will be very interesting to see how the owners measure Slaven’s latest two game probationary period.
