How Irons can turn a London Stadium profit
The Irons could turn a profit using many areas of operation should, and hopefully once, they take over the London Stadium.
Claret and Hugh spoke about the failure to finally find a naming partner for the London Stadium in a piece on the site yesterday.
Being associated with the successful football club we are becoming put figures up to £50 million firmly in the frame.
After finding a sponsor for the naming rights it would be time to fix other loss-making activities.
The top priority should be to relocate athletics from the London Stadium, it was always a vanity project far better suited in Birmingham or Crystal Palace.
The others are clear:
- Give West Ham control of their own catering to allow them to run corporate hospitality and bars and food stalls.
- Allow West Ham to operate the stadium including renegotiating the security, facilities management and stewarding contracts.
The truth is private companies know how to eliminate waste and negotiate sound business contracts in a way the public sector never can where taxpayers money is available.
Put that all together and you have a good chance to turn a loss-making stadium into break even or turn a small profit.
That has to be a win-win for West Ham, the taxpayer and the government. You know it makes sense!
