How will Moyes solve his massive Bowen problem

David Moyes is set to face Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday with the problem of being without key men Edson Alvarez and Jarrod Bowen.

Both players are arguably the Hammers’ best and some would suggest irreplaceable. It’s the last thing West Ham needs with such a thin squad, but that’s precisely the decision Moyes made by declining the option to recruit any attackers in the last transfer window.

Therefore, it’s safe to assume the manager would have a contingency plan, and I believe we saw it in the second half against Wolves. So, it may be a case of three at the back, thus creating an extra attacker in the form of Emerson.

Emerson can help the problem of Jarrod Bowen’s absence against Leverkusen

Ben Johnson also got forward to good effect, suggesting there was a plan for the loss of key players all along. Assuming Bowen is missing from the Europa League team to play Leverkusen at The Bay Arena, I believe Moyes will select the following team:

Fabianski, Mavropanos, Zouma, Cresswell, Johnson, Soucek, Ward-Prowse, Emerson, Paqueta, Kudus, Antonio.
